PGNC Memberships: New and Renewals
Thank you to everyone who is joining the PGNC or renewing memberships for 2026.
Your membership supports both the Prince George Naturalists Club our parent organization, BC Nature, in all their good work.
E-Transfer is available by sending an email that goes directly into the Club’s bank account. No secret word is needed. Payments by cheque can be mailed to Prince George Naturalists Club, PO Box 1092, Prince George BC V2L 4V2.
Memberships run from January 1 to December 31. Cost is $25 per calendar year for individuals, $40 for a family, and $15 for students. Benefits of membership: Subscription to the online version of BC Nature magazine, liability insurance coverage for Club work parties and field trips, and access to popular events limited to Club members only. Add $5 if you wish to receive a printed version of the quarterly BC Nature magazine in the mail.

PGNC Next Executive Meeting
From September to June executive meetings are scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month. All members are welcome to attend the meetings. If you wish to attend, send an email to the Club to obtain meeting details.
PGNC Weed Pull Sunday August 2, 2026
Join us for our Annual Community Invasive Plant Pull
When: August 2nd, 2026. 10am to 2pm.
Where: Shane Creek behind the Carrie Jane Gray Park baseball diamonds – 2366 Del Laverdure Way.
Each year our eco-minded volunteers who strive to protect biodiversity remove invasive plants from the Shane Creek channel. For every plant removed, you are preserving biodiversity in the downstream portions of the channel, and the Hudson’s Bay Wetland!
Please wear sturdy footwear, long pants, long-sleeved shirt and bring sun/ bug protection as well as adequate hydration.
Himalayan Balsam and Common Tansy are high priority invaders that can outcompete native plants, create monocultures and increase erosion and sedimentation in waterways and wetlands.

PGNC Alpine Flower Walk, Sunday August 9, 2026
Join us on a leisurely hike along the trail to the Vineyards in the McGregor Mountain Range. The hike is moderately strenuous, but we will be taking our time and enjoying the flowers and vegetation along the way. There are no summit aspirations, only plant and flower appreciation. How far we go will depend entirely on the group that comes along and weather considerations. This will be a full-day adventure!
Prepare for:
– Approximately 1.5 hours of travel by vehicle each way
– 5+ hours on foot
– Inclement weather
– Wildlife safety
– Insects
– Adequate food
– Hydration

Where: Spruceland Shopping Centre parking lot under the big sign for car pooling and waiver signing
When: Sunday, August 9, 2026 – 6:30 AM
Event cost: Free
Carpool fee: $20

PGNC Shorebirds and Waterfowl, Saturday August 15, 2026 7:45am to 11am Shelley Lagoons
The PGNC Executive invite you to come join us for a morning trip out to the lagoons to look for migrating shorebirds and ducks (and anything else we can find)! We will be going to the lagoons at Shelley, a local birding hotspot, near the Shelley recycling transfer station. This is a free event for all PGNC members. Non-members are also welcome (and will also be free), so invite friends and family who are considering joining. This will be an opportunity to show them the kind of things the club does :).
We will meet between 7:45-8:00 am at the Airport Husky parking lot (corner of Highway 16 and Foreman Road, a couple of km east of the Old Caribou Highway/Highway 16 junction).
If you are bringing non-members, please arrive early. All participants have to sign waivers. From the parking lot, we will convoy to the Lagoons at 8 am; we will have gate access so it will be short walking distances (less than a km) on flat terrain. Bring binoculars and spotting scopes if you have them, and we will have a few spares for newcomers to borrow for the day! Come out and share some fun and birding.
