“To be a naturalist is to be joyful, inquisitive, and at home in the world. To be home is to treat every life form as a family member.” – Marina Richie
PGNC Next Executive Meeting

Report: PGNC Nature Photography Slideshow and Social, Thursday December 11
Thank you to everyone who contributed photos to the the slideshow for our viewing pleasure. It was truly mesmerizing to see what you all have seen this year. With the world being such a beautiful place as it is, it’s no wonder we can capture such stunning shots! Thank you to Dave Leman for organizing this event and putting together the slide show, as well to everyone else who contributed to making this event happen. As always, our members and supporters are welcome to send their nature shots to the Club email to be featured on our website for year round viewing.
During the social event we had volunteer leaders from NatureKids BC – Prince George who showed interest in collaborating with the Club to provide informative events for children in the community. With the Prince George branch starting up again after years of being on hiatus, they are looking for volunteers to share their knowledge and help get the youth intrigued with nature. If this sounds like something up your alley, please reach out to the local NatureKids BC – PG leaders.
PGNC Christmas Bird Count, Sunday January 4, 2026

There is no specific time – this is a come and go as you wish event and will be left up for people to enjoy for at least a few days.

Ursid Meteor Shower December 17 to 26
The last meteor shower of the year will be active between December 17th and 26th in the Northern Hemisphere. This year’s moon illumination makes for advantageous viewing; at 3-6%, between the evenings of the 21st and the 23rd when the meteor shower is at its peak. For best viewing, you need to be in a dark location, with little to no light pollution, and looking North towards the Little Dipper and the North Star/Polaris (map below). Ursa Minor will be highest in the sky between midnight and dawn making these times your best opportunity to see the peak meteor rate, of approximately 50 meteors per hour!
