PGNC Memberships: New and Renewals
Thank you to everyone who is joining the PGNC or renewing memberships for 2025. Your membership supports the Prince George Naturalists Club and BC Nature, our parent organization, in all their good work.
E-Transfer is available by sending to this link and it goes directly into the Club’s bank account. No secret word is needed. Payments by cheque can be mailed to Prince George Naturalists Club, PO Box 1092, Prince George BC V2L 4V2.
Memberships run from January 1 to December 31. Cost is $25 per calendar year for individuals, $40 for a family, and $15 for students. Add $5 if you wish to receive a printed version of the BC Nature magazine in the mail.
“To be a naturalist is to be joyful, inquisitive, and at home in the world. To be home is to treat every life form as a family member”: Marina Richie.
PGNC Next Executive Meeting, Wednesday June 11
All members are welcome to attend executive meetings. If you wish
to attend, send an email to the Club to obtain meeting details.
WalkPG Outdoor Festival, Saturday May 31 at Cottonwood Island Nature Park
The PGNC will be having a booth as well as guiding a bird watching tour through the park. We would like to invite members to join the event as attendees. We would also like to put it out there that volunteers would be appreciated if people are interested (in shifts if they prefer). The event is from 9:45 am to 3:15 pm, but we will be on-site about an hour before and an hour after for set up and take down.

SCWA Salmon Fry Release, Saturday June 1, Spruce City Salmon Hatchery, 1384 River Road
The PGNC will have a booth here as well, and again would like to welcome volunteers to help at our booth, as well as invite folks to attend the event. It goes from 11am – 1pm (give or take an hour for set up and take down on each end).
PGNC Curlew Trip: Report
Our annual long-billed Curlew trip on April 12 was great fun. Thanks to everyone who came out! We had 17 attendees and we saw 11 curlews. Fortunately, the weather was good for a nice little walkabout. We also saw quite the variety of wildlife. On the drive down, some groups saw a moose and a coyote and some deer and during the walk some were treated to a rare chipmunk sighting! Thanks to Kristen Cradock for providing the photos.

PGNC Hudson’s Bay Wetland Cleanup: Report
Thanks to those who came out on April 27 to help us clean up the Hudson’s Bay Wetland! We collected several bags of garbage and two shopping carts, a tire, a drainpipe, a bunch of wire, some foam, a bike tire, the wheeled base of an office chair and more.
